Organised jointly by the Penang State Tourism Bureau and Global Tourism, the programme was launched by Penang state Exco for Tourism Development Danny Law Heng Kiang.

The Penang Trishaw Entourage is a tourism roadshow undertaken for the domestic market covering six states: Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Melaka, Sarawak and Sabah.

In conjunction with the programme, a total of four Penang Trishaws and a ‘mini Penang city’ will be showcased in the next couple of months at the respective states, to engage visitors to see, try, experience and taste a little bit of what Penang has to offer, at their home grounds.

The Penang Trishaw Entourage will feature new attractions such as the Escape Theme Park, Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm, The Habitat at Penang Hill, The TOP@ Komtar, Tech Dome Penang and Design Village Outlet Mall and Traveloka.

Law said Penang had received several accolades from international media last year and this year, and recently CNN listed Panang as one of the 17 best places to visit in 2017. He added that last year, there were six international accolades that included Forbes, CNN, Lonely Planet and Los Angeles Times where Penang was listed as one of the top and must-visit destination, best for discerning and budget travellers as well as Penang Laksa being listed as one of the hottest street food.

He also said that the member of tourists recorded in Penang was 45 per cent domestic and 55 per cent were from China, Singapore and Jakarta.
