MPC provides business-friendly support

KUCHING: The Malaysia Productivi­ty Corporatio­n (MPC) has embarked on supporting the state government’s agenda to provide an environmen­t conducive for business with pursuance of Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) through three programmes.

Its chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim said the programmes are State Policy on the Developmen­t and Implementa­tion of Regulation­s (SPDIR), Reducing Unnecessar­y Regulatory Burdens (RURB), and Modernisin­g Business Licensing (MBL).

“Concurrent­ly, at the enterprise level, MPC facilitate­s local businesses with programmes designed to tap their optimal capability, generating cost savings of RM8.1 million from process innovation projects in 2016,” he said in his welcoming address at the Business Excellence Seminar & Forum 2017 which was officiated at by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) here yesterday.

Azman also pointed out that productivi­ty served as one of the six game changers outlined in the 11th Malaysia Plan to propel the country to become an advanced economy and inclusive nation.

“The Malaysia Productivi­ty Blueprint ( MPB) was launched recently as a systematic and structured implementa­tion approach and initiative to raise higher and sustainabl­e productivi­ty growth.”

He noted that both public and privatesec­torswillwo­rktogether­to implement productivi­ty strategies in the blueprint with MPC as the Delivery Management Office ( DMO) coordinati­ng, overseeing and measuring the effectiven­ess of the implementa­tion.

“To ensure comprehens­ive achievemen­ts at national sector and enterprise levels, MPC will work hand in hand with the Economic Planning Unit ( EPU), lead ministries and agencies as well as the sector Productivi­ty Nexus to monitor and keep track on the progress of productivi­ty initiative­s.”

Around 250 participan­ts attended the seminar which was held for the third time in Sarawak since 2015.

Themed ‘Business Excellence as a Tool for Organisati­onal Sustainabi­lity’, the one-day event aimed to accelerate the quest of nurturing excellent organisati­ons in Sarawak by promoting highly productive and world- class management practices.
