BINTULU: Eight applicants received the Rumah Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia ( RMR1M) subsidy qualification certificate, while five contractors received work orders for the construction of RMR1M for Bintulu parliamentary constituency from Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) Sarawak yesterday.

Ng Kheng Hong, a special officer to Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, officiated at the handing- over ceremony which was held at the Bintulu MP’s service centre.

Present to witness the ceremony was SPNB Sarawak Payment Unit head Mohamad Radzi Ramli.

In his short speech, Mohamad Radzi hoped that the establishment of RMR1M would give new light to applicants in need, especially in realising their desire to own a home on their own land.

At the same time, he urged the contractors to look at the RMR1M scheme as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the community.

“This year, SPNB Sarawak has been entrusted to build 705 units of RMR1M, and 175 applications have been received from Bintulu parliamentary constituency.

“From the total number, 21 units have been handed over to eligible applicants,” said Radzi.

He disclosed that SPNB Sarawak had approved a total of 43 applications and eight units were ready for construction, while 35 units were still in the process of negotiation between the applicants and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
