SIBU: The first 150 to register for the 6th Shimano Belawai Beach Fishing Competition on Sept 10 will receive a free T- shirt each sponsored by Shimano.

Sibu Fishing Club ( SFC) English secretary Peter Sia said the first 60 Belawai folk to register will each get a free Tshirt.

“We’ve received a total of 128 participants from Sibu so far,” he said, adding that the SFC is targeting 300 participants this year.

On the day of competition, Shimano T- shirts will be sold with a 30 per cent discount.

Civil Service Recreational and Welfare Club ( Maksak) is the co- organiser of the competition which is supported by Oft Pancing Sdn Bhd.

The main sponsor is Shimano (S) Pte Ltd.

Registration fee for club members is RM20 while it is RM35 for non-members.

Registration fee after the closing date is RM50 (for both members and non-members).

The competition is divided into Category A (participants who use Shimano products) and category B (open to all).

Sia said the difference is the prize structure.

Prizes in Category A are in kind while Category B carries prizes in cash and kind.

Meanwhile, SFC will hold its 4th Belawai Colouring Competition as an event on the sidelines of the fishing competition.

The colouring competition to be held at Belawai Beach is open to children aged 12 and below.

The competition is co-organised with Kelab Rando Belawai.

Entry is free and all participants will receive a free gift.

The competition is divided into Group A (aged 6 – 9), Group B (aged 10 – 12) and Group C (aged 6 - 12).

He said Group A and B are only open to children in Belawai while Group C is open to children from Sibu.

The top 10 winners in each category will each walk home with a trophy and a hamper.

“The top three in each category will each bag RM100 sponsored by Kuwait Financing House Belawai,” Sia said.
