Elaborating, Dennis said Baram was considered Sarawak’s last frontier in terms of development due to the many great challenges faced by the authorities to bring development, needing strategic and systematic planning and long-term development agendas for all settlements in the huge and sparsely populated area to be developed.

“Without understanding the true situation, this makes public amenities such as roads, electricity, water, telecommunication, etc look costly and seem beyond logic. That is why the visit by top officials is much appreciated,” Dennis explained.

Meanwhile, during the brief visit to Sg Babi, Dennis announced his MRP allocation of RM5,000 to the Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Sg Babi branch.

Others in the entourage were Sarawak ROS director Georgina Aphhia Ngau and Telang Usan Jasa officer Juman Nyuwa.
