KUCHING: Shi Hu Shan ( Huat Tzu Kong) Charity Group Association and Zong Ho Friendship Association helped six needy families from Kampung Punan in Penrissen Padawan area by giving food items and cash to mark National Day yesterday.

The first recipient was Waren Steward Henry, 42, who works as a daily paid construction site worker and has 12 children between the ages of two and 21. His wife is a homemaker, taking care of the younger ones. Only one of their daughters earns a monthly salary from working at a coffee shop.

The second recipient was a blind woman, Arudib Dano, 64, who suffers from diabetes and whose husband is a daily paid worker.

The third was Jone Suil, a daily paid worker who is the sole breadwinner for a family of four as well as his 70-year- old motherin-law.

The fourth recipient was a stroke patient Sinyos Sa’od, 74. He is bedridden following the stroke over a year ago and is being cared for by his homemaker wife. The couple has two working children who earn low wages. The associations also handed over adult diapers to the family.

The fifth recipient, Anthony Jerel, is a labourer with six children. The eldest, Gregory, 29, is disabled while two are jobhunting and the remaining three children are still schooling.

The last recipient was an elderly woman, Mangger Saot, 83.

“We are actively reaching out to the needy to help lighten their burden. We share and give what we can because it may not mean much to others but to the recipients, it means having a little bit more to eat, especially if the families have young children,” said a Shi Hu Shan ( Huat Tzu Kong) Charity Group Association representative, Ng Zen Tze.
