Sibu Jaya amazing township of racial harmony — Sibu Resident

-

SIBU: Sibu Jaya is an amazing township where people from various racial, religious and cultural backgrounds live and work together harmoniously.

Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee made this observation Thursday when officiating at the 10- night Fiesta Sibu Jaya which started last Friday.

“In Sibu Jaya, I can see that people do not have problems with each other’s backgrounds. The various races are gathered here tonight ( Thursday). I have been told that this has been happening every night and in fact the people have gathered together ever since Sibu Jaya was built.

“At events, at coffee shops, at the markets, at the offices, you name it - the people have no issue being side by side,” he said.

“That is the greatest strength of any community and this is especially true of Sarawak!”

Hii found out that many Chinese in Sibu Jaya can speak fluent Iban or Bahasa Sarawak.

“Furthermore many Malays and Ibans send their children to Chinese language schools ensuring the next generation can communicate fluently with one another in a variety of languages.

“My salute to the people of Sibu Jaya for their harmonious ties and pioneering spirit in venturing to this new township,” he said.

Hii commented on the passion of developer Distrepark Sdn Bhd in creating homes and business premises such as Sapphire East Commercial Precinct.

He said they are as committed to this township as the government is determined to let the people have a good life in this beautiful state.

“So this Merdeka, let us reflect on the good that you, as residents of Sibu Jaya and as citizens of Malaysia, have achieved,” he said.

He predicted that the people of Sibu Jaya are destined for greater success and believed Fiesta Sibu Jaya is a fitting tribute to folks of the township.
