KUCHING: Sarawakian singer and musician Faviq Awangku is working to release his first single in the United States.

Titled ‘10 Days of Summer’, the song about love lost will be a combination of pop and R& B.

Currently living in Los Angeles, Faviq is working with record producers and audio engineers on the single.

Releasing a single is no mean feat, especially in the United States, but I’m confident that this is just a prelude to writing and singing, and my album is expected to be launched by mid next year. Faviq Awangku

“Releasing a single is no mean feat, especially in the United States, but I’m confident that this is just a prelude to writing and singing, and my album is expected to be launched by mid next year,” he said.

Faviq has actually worked with Babyface – an 11 Grammy winning artiste and music producer.

Among his musical inspirations are D’angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Richard Marx, Maxwell, and Boys 2 Men.

The former St Joseph’s Primary School and Mara Junior Science College student continued his studies at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology where he graduated with a Bachelor in Applied Science (Biology/ Biotechnology).

It was in Australia that Faviq and college mate Najwa Mahiaddin formed the group Elm Tree.

Upon his return to Malaysia, Faviq worked with renowned Malaysia artistes such as Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and Ning Baizura.

“I wanted to pursue my passion further and told my family, and with their blessings, embarked on a new phase in life. I left for Berklee in 2014, majoring in Performance and Music Business,” he said.

At Berklee, Faviq discovered a wider world of music around those with the same interest.

“Everyone around me breathed and lived music,” he said.
