PUTRAJAYA: The Tourism and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) is organising a photography and short video competition subthemed #MyEvent in conjunction with its #SayangMalaysia social media campaign.

In a statement yesterday, the ministry said participants of the competition must be followers and likers of MOTAC’s official Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

“Participation only requires using both hashtags #MyEvent and #SayangMalaysia in postings uploaded in their Instagram, Facebook or Twitter accounts. Attractive prizes await the first to third winners; there will also be five consolation prizes.

“The short videos with a duration of 30 to 60 seconds must be related to small or large-scale events organised in Malaysia such as National Day, concert, seminar, conference, competition and so on, that may enkindle the spirit of patriotism in Malaysians,” it said.

MOTAC said the campaign was aimed at encouraging domestic and foreign tourists to use social media to share memorable and unique moments of their visits.

“The photographs and short videos may later be used as reference material to attract visitors worldwide to Malaysia,” it said.

MOTAC would announce the names of the winners in its Facebook and Instagram in the second week of November 2017.

Further information on the campaign can be obtained through www.motac.gov.my/ sayangmalaysia.

#MyEvent is the fifth theme for the campaign after #MyCuisine, #MyDestination, #MyCulture and #MySports.

The next theme would be #MyFamilyFun (November to December).

The #SayangMalaysia social media campaign is a national blue ocean strategy (NBOS) initiative among the government department/agencies and private sector, industry players and non-governmental organisations. — Bernama
