KUCHING: This year’s T- RUN 2.0 gathered around 1,400 participants – up from some 1,000 runners who registered for its first edition in November last year.

The charity run was jointly organised by Tea FM; Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions Chinese Associations – Youth Section; See Hua Daily News; and the Second Kuching Company of the Boys Brigade.

The majority of the runners gathered outside Crown Towers here as early as 5.30am, where they had warm-ups prior to flagoff.

The event hosted two categories – 5km and 10km.

It is learnt that for this year, the organisers had increased the quota for participation to 2,000 to accommodate more runners following the encouraging response last year, which exceeded the 1,000-runner target.

According to organising chairman Bryan Liew, the T- RUN 2.0 featured renowned vegetarian chain Idealite and Little Mermaid among its lineup of sponsors.

“Our main sponsor Yeo’s provided ‘ Yeo’s Green Tea’ to every runner. The beverage company also sponsored lucky draw prizes this year,” he said.

The T- RUN 2.0, which was open to all Sarawakians, also received sponsorships from Gree Air Conditioners, Julie’s Biscuit, Life Cafe, Mee Daddy, Wanfa Fish Snack, Royal B Honey, Kor Store, Eagle Brand and Tempayan Restaurant.

Proceeds from the event would go to ‘BB LOVE BOX’ – a charity initiative run by the Second Kuching Company of Boys
