IPGKTAR team clinches gold at regional KIK Convention 2017 in Kota Kinabalu
MIRI: The Al-Kahfi Innovative and Creative Group from Tun Abdul Razak Teachers Training Institute ( IPGKTAR) bagged the gold medal for their ‘ TABSoR ( Tugasan, Aktiviti, Bentang, Soalan Dan Refleksi) + ABC (Alat Berfikir Cemerlang)’ project at the Innovative and Creative Group ( KIK) Convention on Team Excellence ( Sabah and Sarawak Region) 2017 in Le Meridien Hotel in Kota Kinabalu recently.
Team member Dr Radna Wismawati Muhibah Yahya Sawek said their win at the convention, hosted by the Malaysian Productivity Corporation ( MPC), was unexpected.
“We were overjoyed by the results. The project meets the IPG vision of being a leading teacher’s education institution that produces competent and passionate teachers through dynamic training and development programmes, paving the way towards creating worldclass teachers,” she said.
Radna said the project was developed in line with needs and demands of the 21st century education that prioritises the ‘4Cs’ – communications, collaboration, critical-thinking and creativity.
“The product produced by the Al- Kahfi Group is a teaching aid for teachers, which fulfils the aspirations and goals of the Malaysian Education Development Plan ( PPPM) 2013-2025 and also helps the Ministry of Education and the Malaysian government improve the level of education for the community,” she said.
According to Radna, the TABSoR + ABC product meets the needs in education to master, practise and cultivate higher- order thinking skills ( HOTS).
“Therefore, we can produce a generation who can think creatively and critically with great communications and collaboration skills towards meeting the needs under the national development agenda,” she said.
The Al- Kahfi Group has encountered success in highlighting innovative products at various KIK conventions and competitions.
“The team is establishing a project to compete at a state-level KIK competition, organised by the Chief Minister’s Department, which will take place in Miri from Oct 16 to20.
“We have also been invited to participate in the International Quality and Productivity Convention 2017 in Padang, Indonesia,” said Radna.
