Rimbunan Hijau Academy offering two new skill programmes

SIBU: Rimbunan Hijau Academy ( RHA) is now offering new skill programmes, namely Pastry Production Level 2 and Food and Beverage Service Operation Level 2.

They are part of RHA’s hospitalit­y and tourism related programmes designed for those with interest to work in these areas.

Anyone with a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) certificat­e and able to read and write are eligible to enrol.

These 8-month certificat­e programmes are designed to give students the skills and knowledge they need to excel in the baking industry.

In the Pastry Production Level 2 programme, students will learn the skills of preparing pastries, cakes, pudding, Malay desserts and ‘kuih’ with variety of batter and dough, fillings, icings and other ingredient­s used in pastry making.

Meanwhile, at the end of the Food and Beverage Service Operation Level 2 programme, students are expected to be competent in performing F& B basic service operation preparatio­n, and guest service operation function.

It will help them to perform routine, repetitive tasks such as service area set up, arranging tables and chairs and replenishi­ng side stations.

Prior to completing the programme, students will gain industry knowledge and real working experience through a 3-month internship placement.

With a good balance of classroom sessions for learning theories and hands- on experience in the kitchen, students will be able to secure employment in commercial bakeries, catering companies, restaurant­s, hotels and resorts.
