TAWAU: Tawau Youth Association ( Pembela) yesterday lodged a police report against Facebook account holder Jufazli Shi Ahmad for uploading a video clip accusing the Sabah government and Chief Minister as masterminds of the frequent fires in Tawau district.

Pembela chairman, Shamry Mohamad Sani said the association wanted police to investigate Jufazli’s slanderous statements which could affect the reputation of the government and threaten public order.

“He made various slanderous accusations against the Sabah Barisan Nasional ( BN) government and the Chief Minister and appropriate and stern action should be taken against him,” he said after making a police report at Tawau police headquarters here yesterday.

Shamry also wanted police to conduct detailed investigations against Jufazli’s statements under the relevant laws as a lesson to all parties.

“On this matter, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission ( MCMC) should be more vigilant in monitoring and investigating such slanderous and humiliating statements,” he added.

Shamry also advised all parties especially youths to be careful when issuing statements without evidence and accurate facts in the social media.

On Tuesday, Jufazli issued a statement via an hour-long video accusing all leaders of Tawau and government agencies such as Tawau Municipal Council as well as police for conspiring on the frequent incidents of fire in Tawau which went viral on Facebook. — Bernama
