Coffeeshop and restaurant owners present incentives to high achievers

KAPIT: The Kapit Coffeeshop and Restaurant Owners’ Associatio­n ( KCROA) presented education incentives to 23 high achieving students here on Tuesday.

Larry Sng – a former assemblyma­n – donated incentives of RM60 each to pupils who excelled in their Primary 1 to 5 school exams last year, RM100 each to those who excelled in Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah, RM130 each to those who excelled in their Form 3 Assessment, RM150 each for outstandin­g Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates, RM180 each for high achieving matriculat­ion students, and RM200 each to tertiary graduates.

“I donated money to the Kapit Coffeeshop and Restaurant Owners’ Associatio­n to encourage their children to excel in school,” he said.

Sng also called on the Chinese community not to be divided by dialectal clans.

“It’s high time we discard this mentality and work for unity in the Chinese community. Divisions weaken us.

“Instead we should pool our resources to strengthen our unity and resources for the benefit of the whole community.

“The most important thing is we must preserve and practise our customs and traditions because that’s our identity.

“I’m pleased that KCROA comprises of all Chinese clans together,” he added.

Sng also donated RM5,000 to the associatio­n for its social activities.
