Rapper says Taylor Swift is not manipulative, but smart

-

TORONTO: Joseph Kahn, who brought his battle rap satire “Bodied” to the Toronto Film Festival, has defended singer Taylor Swift by saying she’s smart, not manipulative.

“The biggest insult anyone throws at her is that she’s manipulative,” said Kahn about the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ singer.

“What does that mean? As an artist, because you know what clothes you want to wear, you know what edits you want to make, you know what the set-ups are, you know what the theme of every idea is, you know what your lyrics are. Is that manipulative or is that just being smart?”

Former One Direction singer Zayn Malik made similar comments even as Swift faced a backlash over her new song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.

Malik, who collaborated with Swift last year on ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ for the ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ soundtrack, maintained that Taylor does not deserve the online trolls and critics.

Added Malik: “I did a song with her, it was fun, she was professional. She gets on with my girlfriend, they’re good friends. I don’t have a bad word to say about her. She’s cool.

“I rate her as an artist, I think she’s cool, I think she’s successful, and I think she deserves her success because she’s worked hard,” Zayn stressed. “That’s just how I look at it.”

Malik hopes Swifty will brush off all the trash talk about her like he does.

‘ Look What You Made Me Do’ had dislodged ‘Despacito’ by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee from the top spot on the Billboard chart.

The song from her ‘Reputation’ album didn’t debut at the top of the chart, but managed to make it there the following week. It was her fifth chart-topping single.
