Strong winds wreak havoc in Labuan

LABUAN: Strong winds continued to wreak havoc in Labuan, blowing off rooftops, damaging houses and uprooting trees from Sunday night till early yesterday.

At least the roofs of two houses in Kampung Bebuloh were blown off and the units damaged.

However, no casualty was reported.

Labuan Parliament­ary Constituen­cy Community Service Office chief Basran Yunus said immediate assistance would be channelled to the victims.

“We have received reports on the number of affected houses.

“We have also ascertaine­d suitable assistance for them, including materials to repair their houses, which will be channelled immediatel­y,” he told Bernama.

The Labuan Fire and Rescue Department also received a number of emergency calls concerning fallen and uprooted trees along the street at several villages. — Bernama
