-

KUCHING: Weida Integrated Industries Sdn Bhd (WII) achieved another milestone by winning the Gold Award in the Large Category, at the Chief Minister’s Industry Excellence Awards ( CMIEA) at Sarawak Business Federation’s ( SBF) Gala Night held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) recently.

The CMIEA was introduced for the first time by the state government and SBF in collaboration with Malaysia Productivity Corporation ( MPC) to honour and give recognition to outstanding businesses in Sarawak.

The award is regarded as the state’s highest corporate award, which is adopted from the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI).

WII, a wholly owned subsidiary of Weida ( M) Bhd participated under the Large Category ( for domestic companies with sales turnover exceeding RM20 million).

They were given only a month’s time to prepare and compile the necessary documents after MPC’s official briefing on June 8.

Despite the short time frame, the team worked diligently to produce a compact yet comprehensive report for its submission.

The company, in a statement issued here, said the CMIEA was indeed a good experience for all participants.

The learning from selfassessment through this practice has given all better insights for their organisations to continuously improve.

“The award is definitely icing on the cake; the real success was the process of self-reflection and great lessons learned throughout,” the company said.

WII chief executive officer and commercial director YK Tan receive the award from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Also present at the event were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Assistant Minister of ECommerce Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and SBF president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg.
