MRC Miri holds Malaysia Day blood drive

MIRI: The Malaysia Day Blood Donation drive organised by Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Miri Chapter was deemed a success with over 100 successful blood donors participat­ing the campaign.

Held at Boulevard Shopping Mall, Pujut on Sunday, the one-day event attracted a total of 120 people who registered for the donation drive.

“We are happy with the turn out and are thankful to all donors in Miri for being supportive towards our event,” MRC publicity officer Karambir Singh said.

Successful donors received a certificat­e of appreciati­on from MRC Miri Chapter.

Currently, Karambir added, the estimated yearly requiremen­t for blood stock replenishm­ent is about 8,000 pints.

“Therefore, there are many blood donation drives organised by various organisati­ons as well as MRC Miri Chapter to help to replenish the blood stock.”

Karambir also took the opportunit­y to encourage more people to come forward and donate blood as it can save many lives.
