Malaysia, Singapore discuss collaboration on water resources management
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Singapore yesterday discussed bilateral collaboration on water resources management for the benefit of both countries.
The matter was raised at the second joint committee meeting between Malaysia’s Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry ( KeTTHA) and Singapore’s Environment and Water Resources Ministry ( MEWR), here, yesterday.
KeTTHA and MEWR were represented respectively by Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili and Masagos Zulkifli.
A joint statement issued by both ministries said the ministers discussed various measures to conserve the Linggiu Reservoir stock and schemes to increase the yield of Johor River as well as the resilience of the Linggiu Reservoir.
It said the ministers acknowledged the impact of the newly- commissioned Johor River Barrage to the Linggiu Reservoir stock and the yield of Johor River. — Bernama
