Khairul to lay off competitio­ns and focus on rehab

MELAKA: The fastest man in Southeast Asia and SEA Games 100m gold medallist Khairul Hafiz Jantan will lay off from competitio­ns to focus on his rehab after suffering an injury during the 29th Kuala Lumpur SEA Games ( KL2017) last month

The 19-year- old sprinter from Melaka said his main concern now was to recover quickly from the injury that dashed his sprint double hopes in the SEA Games, and concentrat­e on preparing for the Commonweal­th Games and Asian Games next year

“Thank God, I am getting better and probably in two weeks I will be able to resume training,” said Khairul who was among Melaka athletes who received incentives for winning medals at the SEA Games from Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron at Kompleks Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh, here yesterday

During the presentati­on of incentives, 30 athletes from Melaka who had won medals in the KL2017 last month received incentives to a tune of RM269,000 in total
