MNCF offers free legal services to para cyclists injured in accident during training

KUALA LUMPU R : T he Malaysian National Cycling Federation ( MNCF) has come forward to offer free legal services to all the Para cyclists who were injured in an accident while training for the ASEAN Para Games along the Kuala LumpurKual­a Selangor ( Latar Highway), recently.

MNCF president Datuk Abu Samah Abd Wahab said the federation would provide legal assistance to the cyclists to ensure they received compensati­on for their injuries.

He said the MNCF through Datuk Amarjit Singh ( lawyer) would provide free legal services to the injured cyclists.

“I was informed that Datuk Amarjit who is also the MNCF vice president had already contacted the cyclists and offered his advice,” he said in a statement issued by MNCF yesterday.

On Sept 7, four cyclists and an escort were injured in a hit-andrun accident, involving national cycling coach Johari Nayan who was training with his para cycling team comprising Mohd Nor Rizuan Zainal, 31, Khairul Azwan Wahab, 25, Nur Syafiq Suhaimy, 19, and Khairul Nizam Mohd Ali, 23 at around 10.50am when the four-wheel drive unexpected­ly rammed into them.

Pol ice said the accident happened at Km12.6 of the Latar Highway ( eastbound) near the Bandar Tasik Puteri exit.

The injured cyclists were rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital. — Bernama
