Police nab woman, seize 39 packets of Syabu in raid

-

A local woman was arrested after a police raid uncovered 39 packets of drugs in a house at Kampung Sungai Bedil Besar here on Monday.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the drugs, believed to be Syabu, were found around 3pm during an inspection of a room in the house.

“The drugs seized weighed 30.85g and were estimated to be worth around RM5,500.

“Initial investigation revealed that the suspect, who tested negative for drugs, knew of the presence of the illicit substance,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Abang Ahmad added that police are now tracking a still- at-large person in connection with the bust, who is believed to be a drug ‘runner’.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A( 2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Separately, police arrested six individuals, including three women, for allegedly possessing and abusing drugs during a raid here on Sunday.

Abang Ahmad said all the suspects were rounded up around 11am at an apartment complex along Jalan Urat Mata.

An inspection uncovered about 2.72g of dried leaves, believed to be cannabis, inside a cigarette box while a small quantity of white substance, believed to be ketamine, was found on a table.

Five of the six suspects subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine, said Abang Ahmad.

Police are investigating the case under Section 12(2), Section 6 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
