Jobless pair nabbed over robbery of 30-year-old Filipino woman

Police arrested two jobless men early yesterday morning for suspected involvemen­t in a recent robbery at a bank on Monday.

The first suspect, 42, was caught during a raid at a house in Kampung Lereng Bukit at about 3am which also saw the seizure of a motorcycle, crash helmets and a mobile phone.

District deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said police were then led to a house in Piasau Jaya Phase 2 where the second suspect, aged 23, was apprehende­d.

The suspects are believed to have robbed a 30-year- old Filipino woman while she was at an automated teller machine at Jalan Bendahara.

In the midnight incident, the pair relieved the victim of RM500 cash as well as her mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Police are investigat­ing the case under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
