Baram Off-roaders send aid to Long Aton

MIRI: Members of Baram Offroaders sent aid to fire victims in Long Aton, Tinjar, Baram on Saturday.

A faulty water-pump on one of the five four-wheel- drive vehicles did not stop the 10-member team from reaching the village.

“We had to stop many times, to give time to one of the vehicles with faulty water-pump to cool its radiator to reach the destinatio­n. But there was relief that our good intentions to send our contributi­ons to the fire victims was fulfilled,” chairman Hazelan Abdullah told The Borneo Post

He said the group brought rice and other food items, as well as clothing for the fire victims.

“This is what we call team work and the spirt of togetherne­ss among participan­ts, as the main intention was to help the fire victims.

“We were relieved when we reached the destinatio­n where the headman and villagers greeted us with open hearts,” he added.

Hazelan said the group stayed overnight in Long Aton before returning here. The 22- door longhouse was destroyed in a fire early this month.
