Pos Malaysia issues ‘Negaraku’ stamp series to commemorate Malaysia Day
KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Berhad ( Pos Malaysia) will issue and sell ‘Negaraku’ stamp series on Sept 14 to commemorate the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16.
Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said the ‘ Negaraku’ stamp design was based on entries received from the Negaraku Art Competition which was held in schools throughout the country in May this year.
He said the stamp series would feature four designs priced at RM0.55 (150,000 pieces) and RM0.65 ( 200,000 pieces) respectively, depicting the spirit of unity in Malaysia, as well as a reminder of the struggles in achieving the birth of a great nation.
“… and of course it (country) future through the eyes of the future generation. The cancellation mark features the Malaysian map and the word NEGARAKU. As part of the series, we have also produced two Miniature Sheets ( MS) bearing the NEGARAKU logo priced at RM3.20 ( 20,000 pieces) and RM6.35 (15,000 pieces).
“The logo on the RM6.35 MS will have the Spot UV finishing, which I believe will be a hit among ardent collectors and the public in general,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Mohd Shukrie said Pos Malaysia had previously issued numerous stamp series to commemorate the nation’s historic occasions such as Independence Day and Father of Independence in 2003 to celebrate the 100 Year Birth Date of the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the country’s first Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, in addition to the stamp series, other philatelic products such as the First Day Covers ( FDC), inclusive of a brochure worth RM0.55 each, a postcard worth RM1.05 each, as well as folders worth RM6.35 each would be released.
