KUCHING: Members of the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council ( MOGSC) were in town yesterday to hand over a donation to Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society ( SCCS).

The presentation was held during MOGSC’s courtesy visit to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and meeting with council members in Kuching.

Delivering the cheque to SCCS representatives at SCCS premises here were MOGSC president Sharifah Zaida Nurlisha, honorary secretary Linda Zain, executive committee member and Sarawak sector mentor Jamalludin Obeng as well as its Sarawak sector chairman Yatim Noor.

“MOGSC has always been the industry voice, championing the needs of the O& G Industry.

“Yearly, its exco members identify a worthy cause we can contribute to for meaningful impact on the recipients.

“This year we have chosen to contribute to SCCS as its children need our care and attention,” said Sharifah Zaida yesterday.

Non- profit organisation MOGSC is based in Kuala Lumpur.

Formed in December 2003, it is driven by the services sector of the Malaysian O& G industry to promote the capabilities of the Malaysian service providers.

MOGSC hoped its contribution would help ease the cost of running the centre.

SCCS is also a non- profit organisation formed in 1999 by a group of parents of children with cancer.

The society was set up for the care and support of Malaysian children suffering from the disease and their families - giving them financial and emotional support.

One way to support the society is through its halfway home housing 51 families in 2016 who need not only shelter but food and transport to hospital.
