KUCHING: Want to catch the Japanese Film Festival 2017 (JFF17) for free?
The Borneo Post, Utusan Borneo, and See Hua Daily News are offering two complimentary passes to readers who bring a clipping of this article to the See Hua Marketing Office tomorrow (Sept 15), from 8.15am onwards.
The office is located at Ground Floor, Lot 7705, Jalan Pending, 93450 Kuching.
Redemption is on a first come, first served basis, while stocks last.
Each person is limited to two passes, and only newspaper clippings are accepted (no photocopies).
JFF17 returns for its 14th installment from Sept 7 to Oct 2 to serve up a slice of the best and boldest movies from Japan never before seen in Malaysia.
Boasting a thrilling slate of box office favourites, trophy magnets, eye- opening documentaries, and highly-anticipated manga adaptations, the country’s premiere showcase for new Japanese cinema promises a truly immersive cultural experience for audiences of all ages and tastes.
This month-long celebration will first make its rounds in the Klang Valley from Sept 7-13, followed by Penang from Sept 14-17.
It will arrive here on Sept 21 up to Sept 24, and will be showing at GSC CityONE Megamall.
The final stop is in Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah) from Sept 29 to Oct 2.
All films are presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
Films to be shown include Her Love Boils Bathwater, Midnight Diner 2, ReLIFE, Rudolf the Black Cat, Samurai Hustle Returns, Seto and Utsumi, Survival Family, Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High, The Long Excuse, The Projects, Torasan of Goto, Tsukiji Wonderland, Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2016: Reflections, and blank13.
Earlier this month, matinée idol Saitoh Takumi presented a special preview of ‘blank 13’ at GSC Pavilion KL on Sept 5.
The family drama sees the in- demand actor sit in the director’s chair for his first feature-length production as he depicts two brothers coming to terms with their absent father’s death.

Tickets for JFF17 will be sold at RM8.00 (inclusive of 6 per cent GST) except for Midnight Diner 2 and Tsukiji Wonderland, which will be sold at prevailing ticket pricing.
