Residents seek turning to housing areas along central median

-

MIRI: Residents of Taman Victory and Taman Bunga Raya off Tudan Road are calling for the authorities to allow for a turning along the central median to the housing areas.

At present the central median that has been constructed along the dual carriageway is forcing residents to use a roundabout near Emart supermarket in order to head back to the city.

“It is very far and residents are concerned that if during emergencies like a house fire or someone’s sick, Bomba ( Fire and Rescue Department) or the ambulance would have to go far – about 3km to the roundabout,” Taman Bunga Raya resident Abdul Karim Ali complained to The Borneo Post yesterday.

He said the central median also meant there is no direct turning to Emart and the Tudan Clinic areas, forcing residents to U- turn at the Lutong-Tudan traffic light.

Abdul Karim pointed out that both housing estates have been around for 26 years – long before the construction of the dual carriageway.

“We are appealing to the elected representative in Senadin to look into our problems here as it is really a problem for over 100 households in the two housing areas,” he added.

Another resident, who only wished to be identified as Wong, said the authorities and contractor should have conducted a study before implementing the project.

He said now that the project has blocked access to the residential areas, it has caused many problems for residents.
