Striker Thanabalan ready to consider offers from abroad

KUALA LUMPUR: National Under- 2 2 squad st riker N Thanabalan is prepared to consider playing overseas to help improve the well- being of his family.

The Felcra FC player who became a key figure in assisting Malaysia secure a silver medal in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games ( KL2017) last month stressed that he needed to study several factors including looking after his ‘paralysed’ father before making any decision, especially to play overseas.

“So far I have not received any offers but I heard rumours on the matter via the media. If the offer is good in terms of salary and so on, then I might consider.

“If possible, I want to play for the team which could give me 90 minutes exposure... I will travel far and obviously I hope the offer is better as I need to care for my family especially my father who is paralysed,” he told Bernama recently.

Thanabalan who is a Felcra FC player on loan from Negeri Sembilan said he need to respect his contract with the Negeri Sembilan Football Associatio­n which will expire next year.

The Seremban boy said his focus now was to assist Felcra FC qualify for next season’s Premier League.

“Felcra FC management has assisted me and my colleagues in the team, so we are very indebted to assist the team qualify for 2018 Premier League,” he said.

Felcra FC is a team playing in the Football Associatio­n of Malaysia ( FAM) League.

A report in a local daily said Thanabalan and five other U-22 squad players had attracted the attention of Thailand’s League 1 clubs after their outstandin­g performanc­es at the KL2017.

The other five players are Muhammad Adib Zainudin, Adam Nor Azlin ( Selangor), Mohd Syamer Kutty Abba, Muhd Jafri Firdaus Chew ( Penang) and Pahang’s Muhamad Nor Azam Abdul Azih. — Bernama
