CAEPXO strategic platform for M’sia to penetrate China market
NANNING: The 14th China-Asean Expo ( CAEXPO) is a strategic platform for Malaysia to penetrade China’s large market and the country’s participation would boost bilateral trade ties.
Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) chief executive officer, Dr Mohd Shahreen Zainooreen Madros, said Malaysia would also gain valuable promotional mileage, as the coverage of the event had grown over the past 14 years.
“Through our good relationship with China, we would be able to gain a lot of mileage which would help promote our industries in the country,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the business meeting at the second day of CAEXPO 2017 here yesterday.
Mohd Shahreen said CAEXPO was among the biggest events in China and Malaysia had participated since 2004.
He said Matrade had been arranging a number of business meetings in conjunction with the expo, including a signing ceremony between China Post and KCO Logistics and Distribution Services Sdn Bhd to build a sustainable ecosystem for Malaysian industries to penetrate China’s market.
Malaysia’s participation in the ‘One Belt One Road’ (OBOR) initiative would also help the country enter China’s market, as OBOR aimed to boost trade between China and the countries along the Silk Route, he said.
For the first half of 2017, trade between Malaysia and China rose by 27.7 per cent to RM163.02 billion, with higher imports from China, namely petroleum products, electrical and electronic products, machinery, equipment and parts. — Bernama
