Housewife claims cheated of over RM1,400

LIMBANG: A housewife from Brunei incurred losses of RM1,455 when she was allegedly cheated into paying for seven pieces of batik cloth which she had ordered from an acquaintan­ce.

The housewife claimed that the acquaintan­ce did not deliver her order.

Limbang District Police Chief, Superinten­dent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the victim realising that she was cheated then made a police report at 1.07pm on Monday.

“The victim had paid in three transactio­ns to the account of the suspect, for the seven pieces of batik cloth.

“However until now, the items paid had not been received and the suspect could not be contacted,” he told reporters yesterday.

In another unrelated case, six men were detained recently for drugs abuse after they were tested positive for Methamphet­amine and Amphetamin­e, during Ops Tapis conducted at Ranggau housing estate and Kampung Bangkita here.

All the jobless suspects aged between 22 – 51years were being investigat­ed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile two men, aged 19 and 32 were detained on Tuesday to assist in investigat­ion into a recent quarrellin­g case at Dataran Jubli Emas here that went viral on social media.

Both suspects from Kampung Patiambun were detained from two different houses in the village.

Mohd Bukhori added police are still looking for another two suspects - a father and son also from Kampung Patiambun to assist in the investigat­ion. The duo is believed to have escaped to neighbouri­ng state Sabah.
