Fajar Internatio­nal College hosts local press to thank-you luncheon

MIRI: Fajar Internatio­nal College chief executive officer Dr Peter Tham has thanked members of the press for the support and co- operation rendered to the college, saying the media has played an important role in creating awareness of local higher education opportunit­ies among the community.

He said this at a luncheon yesterday hosted by the college for members of the local press, in which Telang Usan assemblyma­n Dennis Ngau was the guest- ofhonor.

In his address, Tham also revealed that Fajar has plans to offer yet another business degree programme in collaborat­ion with an Australian university.

the Ministry of Education,” he added.

Tham also announced the college will hold its annual graduation ceremony of Sept 29, with Human Resources Minister Dato Sri Richard Riot as guest- ofhonour.

Dennis, meanwhile, expressed his hope that local youths, especially those from the Orang Ulu community, pursue higher education after completing secondary school, stressing the future of society lies in the hands of younger generation­s.

“Higher education is the only way that our youth can be a properly-trained profession­al who can play a role in community developmen­t,” he said.

As the deputy chairman of the Federation of Orang Ulu Associatio­ns Sarawak Malaysia ( Forum) Dennis also thanked Fajar for offering full scholarshi­ps to needy students, especially from the Orang Ulu community, to enable them to pursue higher education at the college.

Hence, he urged the local youths to take the opportunit­y offered by Fajar as the full scholarshi­p covers tuition fees, and hoped that the scholarshi­p scheme will continue for years to come.
