KUCHING: A group of 20 enterprising entrepreneurs yesterday completed a three- day course on making desserts and snacks organised by Community Development Department (Kemas) Petra Jaya Skills Education Division.

Aside from learning to make various desserts and snacks, there was also an entrepreneurship talk to equip the participants with information and skills on starting a business.

Hanifah Saed, representative of Samariang assemblywoman who officiated at the closing ceremony urged the participants to fully utilise the skills and knowledge learned in order to become entrepreneurs.

“I don’t want you all to go home and forget about what you have learned during the course. Instead, put it into good use and start a small business. Start small, keep at it, and the business will grow bigger,” she said.

Hanifah who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Samariang branch women chief, added that this would benefit the participants and their families as they get additional income from selling the desserts and snacks.

“When you go to hotels, you see all the beautiful desserts successful and creative arrangements will make patrons want to try and take a bite. It may be just a simple dessert, but the way it is presented makes a difference,” she said.

She suggested that they promote their products online such as through Facebook to get more customer reach.

Participants received certificate of attendance and some items to start off their business.
