Twenty-three children participate in Milo champions clinic
MIRI: Twenty-three children including five female students aged 7-11 took the opportunity to explore futsal in a fun, affordable and safe environment under the guidance of experienced and qualified coaches under the Milo champions clinic.
According to coach Elizabeth Oyau, the clinic was held for the second time whereby last year about 52 children took part in the basketball and futsal Milo champions clinic here.
She said the clinic offers youngsters a chance to learn and pick up different sports and futsal is a sport where all children regardless of their sex should give it a try.
“We encourage participation from parents too and we want the parents to know how important sports are and that every child should try any sport they want so that they can be actively engaged to start inculcating, not only a healthier routine, but all the life lessons and values that can be gained from sports.
“When children are practising, parents can also benefit from the spectator’s seat by understanding the sports itself,” she said.
The former National SEA Games footballer added that with the small size of the futsal ring, players would be able stay focused throughout the game and have a fast response.
“This sport teaches someone about collaboration, strategy and creativity that allow a team to move around the court and bypassing the opponent’s game,” she added.
The clinic which was held on the weekends from July 22 to Sept 10 at Hornbill Sports and King Sports here was also assisted by coaches Fadillah Ibrahim, Mohd Nazrul Hassan, Ahmad Mujahid Ahmad Najib, Mohd Fadhlur Rahman Yusop and Mohd Nur Arsyad Tamit.
