Sabati members bring aid to PDKs, trainees in Bau
KUCHING: The delegates from the Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak ( Sabati), headed by their president Chief Minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, visited three community- based rehabilitation centres ( PDKs) in Bau yesterday.
The first centre in Singai, declared open in 2012, has 78 trainees; followed by PDK Cahaya Kasih in Kampung Serasot, which has 42 trainees; and PDK Sinar Harapan in Kampung Duyoh, which has 36 trainees.
According to Juma’ani, the visit was part of Sabati’s efforts in assisting the PDKs and channelling assistance to the trainees.
“We also get to learn about the issues affecting or the problems faced by the PDKs.
“So far this year, we have visited 12 PDKs – we are planning to visit other centres across the state,” she said.
Juma’ani also advised parents caring for children with special needs, to be patient with their children.
“We must show how much we love and care for them. It is my wish that they would feel appreciated, instead of being dismissed by other people,” she added.
Juma’ani also presented a RM2,000 grant from Sabati to each of the PDKs. Every trainee also received cash and gifts from the association.
State Welfare Department director Abang Shamshudin Abang Seruji, Sabati secretarygeneral Datin Dr Zaleha Abdullah and treasurer Siti Shorgayah Zaiden were among the visiting delegates.
