Associatio­ns to hold Mid-Autumn Festival colouring contest

KUCHING: A Mid-Autumn Festival children colouring contest will be held on Sept 29, 30 and Oct 1 at Plaza Merdeka here.

It is one of the programmes of the 16th Kuching Inter- Cultural Mooncake Festival. The festival, hosted by the Federation of Kuching Division Community Associatio­ns and the Old Market Community Associatio­n will be held for seven days from Sep 28 to Oct 4 at Carpenter Street.

Organising chairman Sim Kiang Chiok said the contest is held to promote Chinese traditiona­l culture and values through festivitie­s and provide a platform for children to show off their talents.

The contest is divided into two categories (from Sep 29 to Oct 1): Lower Primary: Primary One to Three, Higher Primary-Primary Four to Six.

Lower Primary first prize is RM200 cash, second is RM150 and third prize is RM100. There are three consolatio­n prizes of RM50 each.

Higher primary first prize is RM300, second prize RM200 and third prize RM100. There are three consolatio­n prizes of RM50 each. Prize presentati­on will be held on Oct 4 near Old Court House.

Those interested may register at 6.30pm at the registrati­on counter at Plaza Merdeka on Sept 29, 30 and Oct 1. Registrati­on is free.

Colouring contest will be held from 7.15pm to 9.15pm at Lower Ground Floor, Plaza Merdeka.

Participan­ts should bring their own colour pencil or crayons or water colours, tables and stools. The organiser will provide drawing papers.
