St Theresa Parish to celebrate feast day on Sept 30

-

SERIAN: The St Theresa’s Parish Council here will celebrate the feast of patron saint St Theresa, in the evening of Sept 30.

The celebration will comprise a procession round Serian town, entertainment items, lucky draws, sales of food, drinks and handicrafts at the SRK St Theresa car park area near the main church here.

A rosary recitation in the church will replace the round-the-town procession if it rains.

The Feast Day Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8.30am on Oct 1, the actual Feast Day of the church.

The celebration, the only annual fundraising project of the Council will be launched by Archbishop of Kuching Roman Catholic Church Simon Poh on Sept 30.

The objectives of the celebration include fostering better relationship among fellow parishioners and to raise fund for the maintenance and development of the main church and chapels within the parish.

The chairman of the Parish Council special function committee Dennis Edwin said that the donation envelopes and lucky draw tickets are now available at the parish office in the church.

He urged all well-wishers to support the Feast Day and to donate generously. The fund collected from the events will be utilised for the projects of the Parish Council.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Parish Council Dennis Sung said the annual event to celebrate the Feast of St Theresa is actually the only annual major fund raising activity of the Parish Council.

He hopes that all supporters, donors and well-wishers will continue to support the celebration as the council is still short of fund for its proposed projects that include upkeep and development of the main church, the chapels within the Parish ( Serian and Simunjan) and for physical and spiritual activities.

The committee has decided that all the lucky draw winners can claim their prizes until Oct 31 with their winning tickets from the Parish Council office during normal working hours.
