Pullman Miri Waterfront marks first birthday with special luncheon
MIRI: Miri City’s upscale international hotel Pullman Miri Waterfront yesterday ( Sept 15) celebrated its first anniversary by holding a special luncheon for specially invited guests.
The guests- of-honour were Miri City mayor Adam Yii and wife Rita Lau.
Among those present were Interhill Group of Companies’ managing director Datuk Hii Chang Pee and wi fe Dat in Lau Ngok Yung who is deputy managing director of Interhill Group, the companies’ directors and executives - A lbert Hu (executive director), Regina Hii ( director) and Eric Tan ( chief operation officer of Pullman Hotels, Sarawak) - and local media members.
Yi i in h i s br ie f s p e ech commended the hotel for its successes, saying that despite only operating for one year, it had greatly helped the city council in promoting tourism in Miri City and its hinterland.
“Pullman Miri had contributed to the economic g rowth of Miri City, being an upscale international hotel of Accor – the world’s leading hotel operator made the hotel the first choice for tourists and visitors to Miri,” he said.
Pullman Miri Waterfront was declared open on Sept 17 last year by the late chief minister, Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem. It first opened its door for business on April 2, 2016.
Tan said Pullman Miri had within a year recorded excellent achievements including being chosen as the venue for a multitude of major events.
“This hotel welcomed over 200 delegates from 24 countries for the 33rd Pan-Pacific Conference, hosted the Head of State’s 80th birthday celebration and recently the Chief Minister’s Aidilfitri Ramah Tamah,” he said.
Tan added that the management looks forward to continue to bring guests the Pullman brand of hospitality and hopes to welcome more guests from around the world to experience Miri.
Pullman Miri Waterfront first anniversary celebration began with an 80s themed Zumba Party on Sept 9, where 100 came for the event. Prizes were given to the best dressed participant and five lucky winners each received a 2day/1-night complementary stay at the hotel.
To mark its first anniversary, the hotel is offering promotion this month of its rooms, food and beverage while social media users can take part in the photo contest.
