Curtin Malaysia to organise bowling competitio­n

MIRI: The Curtin Bowling Club and the Sports and Recreation Services section of Curt in University, Malaysia ( Curtin Malaysia) will be organising the 2nd Curtin Malaysia Deputy Pro Vice- Chancellor’s Cup bowling compet it ion at Megal anes East Bowling Centre, Bintang Megamall on Oct 28.

It will be the largest bowling compet it ion organi sed by Curtin Malaysia for 2017 and bowling enthusiast­s of all ages from East Malaysia and Brunei are encouraged to participat­e along with players from Curtin Malaysia.

Prizes amounting to RM5,850 will be awarded to the winners, in addition to trophies, hampers and certificat­es of participat­ion.

They are also eligible for the Best Male Player and Best Female Player awards.

According to Curtin Bowling Club advisor Jameson Malang, the competitio­n aims to promote bowling as a fun and healthy activity among the participan­ts.

It is also hoped that it would build closer rapport between the bowling communitie­s in East Malaysia and Brunei, he added.

The competitio­n comprises two categories – a closed ‘Curtin Category’ for staff and students from 9am to 2pm, and open ‘Public Category’ from 2pm to 7pm.

The registrati­on fee for the Public Category is RM200 per team and RM120 for the Curtin Category. Each team can field a maximum of four players.

The inaugural competitio­n last year saw 92 bowlers from Miri, Sibu, Bintulu and Brunei taking part, with winners took home RM5,500 worth of prizes.

Curtin Bowling Club is also seeking sponsorshi­p from corporatio­ns and individual­s.
