Public lecture on modern agricultur­e on Sept 22

SIBU: Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) will hold a public lecture on ‘Modern Agricultur­al Business in the Digital Era – How to Create New Value’ on Sept 22 at its premises.

Its president Dr Gregory Hii, said the event commencing at 7pm would be conducted by an expert from Taiwan Lin Chin Sheng.

“Admission is free, all are welcome,” he told a press conference yesterday.

He said that the event was initiated by Malaysia Chinese Chamber and Commerce, running from Sept 18 until Sept 25.

The event will be held at six different places — four in Penisular Malaysia and two in Sarawak.

“For Sarawak, it will be held in Sibu which is on Sept 22 and in Kuching,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said SCCCI is inviting businessme­n and businesswo­men who had applied for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) loans but had their applicatio­ns rejected, to submit their documents to SCCCI.

“Bank Negara wants to collect the particular­s to find out the reasons why they were rejected,” he said, adding that SCCCI would help submit their documents to Bank Negara.

The closing date to submit the documents to SCCCI is Sept 30.
