Curtin Malaysia to hold career fair Oct 5-6
MIRI: Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) will hold its Curtin Career Fair 2017 on Oct 5 and 6 where representatives of leading employers nationwide and in a variety of industries will be present to showcase their companies and career opportunities.
According to the university, in the current highly competitive job market, soon-to-graduate students and working adults seeking new career options, are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities offered at the university’s upcoming fair.
The leading companies include Gamuda Berhad, Petronas, Shell Malaysia, Crowe Horwath, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Sellbytel Services Malaysia, Shimano Components, Teach For Malaysia, Times Consult and Top Glove Corporation.
Sarawak-based companies taking part include Press Metal, Samling Group of Companies, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad, Dai Lieng Machinery, Great Advisor Group, HGST Malaysia, Longi (Kuching) Sdn. Bhd., Noble AV Partners, Pertama Ferroalloys, Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS) and Subur Tiasa Holdings Berhad.
Completing the list of over 30 companies will be ACCA Malaysia, CPA Australia, A’Famosa Resort Hotel, Confluence Contours, Infinity Abroad, Inter Island Manpower, Keyence Malaysia, Plexus Manufacturing and TMF Trust Labuan Limited.
The event, organised by the Career & Alumni Services section of Curtin Malaysia life department, will be held at the university’s recreation & event centre from 10 am to 4 pm on both days.
Admission is free and jobseekers are advised to bring along their résumés, cover letters, transcripts and other supporting documents for any on-the-spot interviews with the employers.
According to senior career and alumni officer Baun Inu Pu’un, the Curtin Career Fair is one of Curtin Malaysia’s biggest annual events after its Open Day and graduation ceremonies.
It attracts hundreds of visitors and employers from across the country each year, underlining Curtin Malaysia’s commitment to its students, corporate partners and the Miri community in providing job opportunities and skilled manpower.
“It is the perfect opportunity for graduating students, alumni and other job-seekers, having so many potential employers gathered in one place. The companies involved, especially those from outside Miri, will also find it beneficial to promote job openings in their organisations,” said Baun.
