Dr Rundi: BN can win at least 4 seats it lost in GE14

-

SIBU: State Barisan Nasional ( BN) is confident of recapturing at least four seats from the opposition in the coming 14th general election ( GE14), its secretary- general Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi said.

Though not naming the constituencies, he called on all BN component parties to consolidate and work hard to wrest the four seats.

“We won 25 seats and lost six seats in the last general election. But this GE14 we are confident of winning at least four (from the six seats).

“We work very hard and we will give support to the BN component parties that will be representing the four seats.

“I advise that whatever conf lict there is within SUPP and UPP must be resolved before GE14. That will facilitate our winning of the four seats and consolidate BN strength,” Dr Rundi, who is Minister of Utilities, added.

Asked if Lanang and Sibu seats would be the hardest for BN to wrest, he replied in the negative.

Dr Rundi, who is also PBB secretary- general, however, did not want to tell if Lanang and Sibu were among the four seats BN wanted to win back.

“All I can say is there are four seats (that can be wrested) but it is within our strategy - we cannot reveal,” he said.

In the 2013 general election, the state BN won 25 seats and lost six seats; namely Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Sarikei, Lanang, Sibu and Miri.

SUPP contested in seven seats and managed to defend its Serian seat, which has been held by its deputy president Dato Sri Richard Riot since 1990.

The other three BN component parties; namely PBB, PRS and PDP, won all the seats they contested - PBB (14), PRS ( six) and PDP (four).
