Talk on trends, opportunities in ‘Internet of Things’ this Sept 21
KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak ( Azam) in collaboration with the US Embassy Kuala Lumpur will host a talk on ‘ Trends and Opportunities in Internet of Things ( IoT)’ here this Sept 21.
This talk will focus on the trends and opportunities and the future of IoT in the daily lives of the people.
The speaker will be Deborah Magid, the director of software strategy at IBM Venture Capital Group. She represents IBM’s US$ 25-billion software business in the company’s 12-year old Venture Capital Group. Her expertise spans several industries.
Magid is responsible for sharing insights about emerging markets, technologies and business models with venture firms and entrepreneurs around the world. She scouts for emerging business opportunities and shares views on innovation and growth areas of the market.
As a director of strategy in IBM Software Group, she also brings insight from the venture community to the development of IBM’s growth strategies. Magid is also chairperson of the board of SVForum, the Silicon Valley emerging technology network; on the advisory board of White Bull, serving the European entrepreneurial and venture communities; and on the steering committee of the California Sustainability Alliance.
Previously, Magid held positions in product management, marketing, and user- centered design at Taligent, GE Information Services and AT&T.
About 30 participants including relevant industry players, government officers, undergraduates and media practitioners are expected to attend the talk.
