Maksak Kapit to receive RM20,000 boost from elected representa­tives

KAPIT: The Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) for Kapit Division has been commended for its pro- activeness in holding various activities for the civil servants here to keep them fit and healthy.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Developmen­t Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi also praised the body for providing the platform for government personnel to interact and share new experience­s and ideas with one another.

“I am aware that by itself, Maksak Kapit actually has no fixed source of funding for it to carry out its activities. As local elected representa­tives – Bukit Goram assemblyma­n (Jefferson Jamit Unyat) and myself – we are ready to assist you.

“We hope that Maksak Kapit could organise many more sports activities in the future,” he spoke at the opening of Maksak Kapit ‘ Merdeka Futsal competitio­ns 2017’ in the indoor stadium at Jalan Bleteh here last weekend.

The three-day futsal tournament, which concluded on Sunday, was one of the activities hosted by Maksak Kapit in line with National Day and Malaysia Day celebratio­ns here.

Nanta, whois KapitMP, andJamit each announced a government grant of RM10,000 for Maksak Kapit to run its activities.

In his remarks, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong Punan said it is the aim of Maksak Kapit to run programmes aimed at keeping local civil servants fit and healthy.

“I believed that if they are fit and healthy, they would be more productive and able to perform to the best of their abilities,” said Belayong, who is also chairman of Maksak Kapit.

He also thanked Nanta, Jamit and other local elected representa­tives for their ongoing support.

Meanwhile, Kadico, which represente­d Kapit District Council, emerged champion of the futsal competitio­n, taking home with them the cash prize of RM1,000 and trophy.

The respective first, second and third runners-up were PSKPP A, Medic A and Medic C18, who bagged RM700, RM500 and RM300, respective­ly as well as medals.

The competitio­n gathered 16 teams from various government offices, department­s and agencies here.

In women’s futsal, PSKPP representi­ng the Education Department came out tops, winning RM800 and trophy. The District and Resident’s Office team, Rando pocketed RM600 for finishing second, while the second runner-up, Landas of the Land and Survey Department, received RM400.
