Miri Marriott Resort & Spa plays host to PPKI pupils

MIRI: A group of over 50 pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jalan Bintang here had the opportunit­y to tour and learn about Miri Marriott Resort & Spa during their recent educationa­l visit under the school’s special education integratio­n programme ( PPKI) to the resort recently.

The educationa­l visit enabled the pupils to see first-hand how the resort operates and meet the resort’s general manager Marc Cosyns and staff as part of the school’s effort in bringing the pupils to engage more with outside activities.

According to the programme coordinato­r Dayang Massiah Awang Junaidi, the pupils were thrilled to go on the educationa­l tour where they got to see the resort and learn a few new things.

“The general manager and the resort staff were very welcoming towards the students and I can see the kids beaming with excitement.

“The students get to learn about four types of napkin folding which are bird of paradise, peacock, pocket and rose and the towel art making of elephant, turtle, monkey and swan by the Food and Beverages department of the resort,” she said, adding the students were accompanie­d by 17 teachers and six teaching assistants.

The educationa­l visit is part of the school’s effort to further enhance the social skills and self- confidence among PPKI students.
