Higher education fair to be held at Pullman Hotel on Oct 3

-

KUCHING: A higher education fair will be held at Pullman Hotel here from 1pm to 5pm on Oct 3.

Parents and students are invited to attend so they can speak directly to representatives from universities and colleges in Malaysia and overseas, said a media release yesterday.

The organiser of the education fair is EduQuest Education Services, a one-stop education advisor for further studies. Entry is free.

“Students are advised to bring their actual or school trial exam results for on-the-spot evaluation.

“At the fair, parents and students can get the latest information on courses and scholarships from higher education institutions in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, UK and US.

“Some participating institutions are offering 2017 fees if students apply or enrol during the event. University tuition fees will generally increase three to five per cent yearly,” a spokesperson for the organiser was quoted as saying.

He noticed that some parents and students were still indecisive on what courses to take after getting the results of the public exams last March.

“This is the best platform for them to get advice from representatives of various institutions to see what best suits them.

“The event is also a good avenue for current Form 5 and 6 students to prepare for higher studies before taking the final exams end of this year,” he said.

More than 80 universities in Malaysia and overseas will be participating in this education fair.

Visitors can speak to representatives from government agencies like National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and JobsMalaysia to know more about financial assistance and the job market in Malaysia, particularly Sarawak.

Another attraction of the event is the scholarships and financial aids offered by various institutions.

“2018 is going to be another challenging year for most parents due to the current economic situation. Hence institutions are offering attractive scholarships, bursaries and incentives to students to help ease their parents’ financial burden,” added the statement.
