Followers to celebrate 200th anniversar­y of Bahai Faith

KUCHING: Followers of Baha’u’llah will be celebratin­g the 200th anniversar­y of the Bahai Faith on Oct 22.

The Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahais of Sibu will organise a colouring contest open to all primary school children.

The event will be held at the 1st Floor, Boy Scouts Headquarte­rs, Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, Sibu on Oct 14 (Saturday) from 8.30am till 12.30pm.

Under the theme “Unity in Diversity,” it aims to bring together children of diverse background­s interested in colouring, and at the same time to create the awareness in them of the importance of unity in order to bring about peace in our society, the organizers said in a press statement yesterday.

The contest will be divided into two categories: Category A for children from Primary 4 to 6 (aged 10 to 12), Category B is for Primary 1 to 3 (aged 7 to 9).

Participan­ts are required to bring along their own colouring materials, tables, chairs, mats and other necessary items. Refreshmen­t will be provided.

Organisers also said attractive prizes in the form of cash ranging from RM20 to RM200 await the winners. Participan­ts will be briefed on the contest rules before the competitio­n begins.

The decision of the organising committee will be final. They reminded parents to be responsibl­e for the safety of their children throughout the event, the organisers added.

With limited places available, interested participan­ts are required to fill the Registrati­on Form, snap it and WhatsApp to Mr Lim at 019- 8863382. Closing date is on Oct 7.

“Oct 22 2017 marks the celebratio­n of the 200th Anniversar­y of the birth of Baha’u’llah who is the founder of the Bahai Faith.

“One of the teachings of Baha’u’llah is the unity of mankind irrespecti­ve of their background, race, colour or religion,” the statement pointed out.
