Hornbill City Toastmasters Club installs new executive committee

KUCHING: Hornbill City Toastmasters Club held its 23rd Installation ceremony for the incoming Club Executives recently at The Barber Café.

The Guest of Honour was Hornbill City Toastmasters Club Patron Datuk David Teng.

June Yong was sworn in as President while the executive committee consists of Vice President ( Education) Shirley Wong, Vice President ( Membership) Dr. Goo Zhen Qiang, VicePresident ( Public Relations) Syed Hasib M Rahman, Secretary Jacinta Lim, Treasurer John Ting, Sergeant at Arms Wong Woei Ling, and committee members DTM Tan Hong Mui and DTM Awang Saifeluddin.

During the ceremony, the outgoing President Faith Wong shared her success in leading Hornbill City Toastmasters Club to achieve President’s Distinguished Club award ( Highest level of recognition given by Toastmasters International) and Star Award with one member achieving Triple Crown Award for 2016-2017.

Incoming President June Yong thanked the Club Advisor DTM Dunstan Chan and senior members for their encouragement and her personal development since joining the club at the end of 2013, in the spirit of Toastmasters “Friends helping friend succeed”. She pledged to work with her EXCO team to keep the standards as high as her predecessor. She will ensure quality meetings are held and more workshops to benefit members.

She also thanked the Club Patron, Datuk Teng for his continual support of Hornbill City Toastmasters Club. His support is crucial in ensuring that the club can continue to fulfill the Toastmasters International Mission – empowering individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

In the keynote address of Patron Datuk Teng, he shared the importance of listening skills in communication. He also advised Toastmasters members to stay committed to the personal enrichment program of Toastmasters.

Toastmasters International is a worldwide non-profit educational organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

Hornbill City Toastmasters club holds its educational meeting every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Level 4, MHoltel, Hock Lee Centre. Meeting commences at 7.30pm and public is welcomed as guests.
