Pharmacists converge for inaugural event
KUCHING: Pharmacists from both government and private sectors came together to share knowledge, experiences and practices in the state’s fi rst World Pharmacists Day 2017 at CityONE Megamall here yesterday.
The event was jointly organised by the State Health Department Pharmaceutical Services Division and Sarawak Pharmaceutical Society.
State Health Department ( Pharmacy) deputy director Abu Hassan Alshaari Abd Jabar said the event aimed at advocating the roles of pharmacists in improving health.

This year’stheme,‘Fromresearch to healthcare: Your pharmacist is at your service’, reflects the many different contributions the pharmacy profession can make in the healthcare system, he added.
The objectives of the World Pharmacists Day is to enhance the quality of health services provided for patients through safe and effective usage of therapeutic products.
“We want to highlight the integral role of pharmacists as an effective member in the medical team as well as to encourage pharmacists to conduct pharmaceutical care-related researches.”
During the one- day event, free health screenings and dental checkups, blood donation, medication counselling, mental health assessment, exhibition, games and quizzes and health demonstrations were held.
