Lions Club members praised for willingnes­s to help all

The Lions movement around the world and also in our district under the capable leadership of District Governor (District 308-A2) Pelly Lee, have certainly helped many strangers.

SIBU: Members of the Lions Club are commended for reaching out to the poor and the needy, despite not even knowing the recipients of their assistance.

In this regard, Minister of Internatio­nal Trade and ECommerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh views the Lions as ‘ having restored the people’s dignity and happiness in life, making the world a better place to live in’.

“The Lions movement around the world and also in our district under the capable leadership of District Governor ( District 308A2) Pelly Lee, have certainly helped many strangers.

“That is what I would like to call ‘ the greatest love, the universal care’.

“I am very proud of all of you who have chosen to join Lions Club. I am sure you will honour

your pledge — ‘Together We Serve’ — making this world a happier and a better place to live in,” he spoke at the 19th office- bearers installati­on cum fundraisin­g banquet of Sibu Pahlawan Lions Club here on Sunday, where the newly-installed club president Kevin Lau and event organising chairman Andrew Wong were present. Adding on, Soon Koh also spoke on the importance of helping one another.

“When you are successful in your career, it is time for you to help others.”

Soon Koh also expressed his confidence in Lau’s leadership – one that he believed would bring the Sibu Pahlawan chapter to greater heights.
